Pack 1592 Families,

As your Pack Committee Chair, I want to share some important updates about our Pack’s future and how we’re working together with another local Cub Scout Pack to strengthen the Scouting program in West Roseville.

At our most recent Committee meeting, we discussed the challenges Pack 1592 has faced with declining membership over the past few years. Our neighboring Pack 1533—also chartered by the Kiwanis Club of Roseville—has been experiencing similar issues. Because both Packs are supported by the same chartering organization, Roseville Kiwanis suggested that our leadership teams meet to explore ways we could support one another.

That initial meeting took place earlier this month between both Packs’ Cubmasters and Committee Chairs. We had a very positive discussion about the shared challenges we face and how combining our strengths could create a more sustainable, well-rounded Cub Scout experience for all families.

A little background: Pack 1533 was originally formed in 2017 when Pack 1592 grew to about 140 Scouts—large enough that it made sense to split into two Packs. This helped both groups serve our fast-growing community more effectively at the time. However, membership trends have since shifted, and both Packs now find themselves with smaller dens and gaps in certain age groups.

A healthy Pack depends on having Scouts at every grade level (K–5) so that dens are balanced and leadership can transition smoothly from year to year. With our current numbers, both Packs are finding it harder to maintain that structure.

To ensure that all of our Scouts have the best experience possible, both leadership teams are now exploring a potential merger between Pack 1592 and Pack 1533. Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll be working together to discuss what that merger might look like—covering things like meeting formats, activities, budgets, and logistics.

No decisions have been finalized yet, and we will share updates as they happen. Our goal is to make any transition as seamless and positive as possible for our Scouts and families, while ensuring the program continues to thrive for years to come.

At this stage, we don’t expect major changes to how your current dens operate. Most of the discussion will focus on how to unify behind the scenes so that both Packs’ families benefit from a stronger, more resilient program.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or to Cubmaster James Oslie. Your input matters—we want to be thoughtful and transparent as we move forward together.

Yours in Scouting,

Greg Hill
